No weekend plans? Invite friends over for a relaxing evening experimenting with creative drinks! Infusing alcohols with natural flavors and mixing up homemade syrups is all the rage. Take this recipe for Blackberry Whiskey Lemonade and give it your own spin. We added mint, but you can try basil or rosemary as your herbal influence. Add a personalized straw tag to make it truly yours. Cheers!

For The Blackberry Simple Syrup:
– 12 oz. fresh blackberries
– 1/2 cup sugar
– 1/2 cup water

For The Blackberry Whiskey Lemonade:
– 1 cup whiskey
– 1 cup lemon juice
– 3/4 cup blackberry simple syrup
– 1 cup tonic water or sparkling wine
– Lemon slices
– Fresh mint
– Ice

For The Blackberry Simple Syrup
Combine the blackberries, sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Heat for 15-25 minutes, stirring occasionally until blackberries have softened and you have a thick syrup. Strain syrup through a mesh sieve to separate any seeds or lumps. Let the syrup cool for 20 minutes or so before you make the drinks. You can refrigerate any leftover syrup in a sealed container for up to a week.

For The Blackberry Whiskey Lemonade
Over ice, combine the whiskey, lemon juice, blackberry syrup and a couple mint leaves in a large shaker. Shake well. Strain over ice into glasses. If you’re feeling a little bubbly, you can top each drink with a splash of tonic water or sparkling wine. Garnish with a lemon wheel and sprig of mint (or your herb of choice!). Serve and enjoy. Happy Weekend!
