Blackberry-Basil Bourbon

Spring is in the air! The bright colors and clear weather lend inspiration to art, home decor, wedding and party themes, and tasty dishes. And don’t forget all of the fresh and flavorful drink recipes. We love this unexpected pairing of blackberry and basil with bourbon. Try it out and let us know what you think!

2-3 fresh blackberries
2 medium basil leaves, slapped and torn
2 ounces of bourbon
1/2 teaspoon honey or agave nectar
Club soda

Slap the basil—not kidding, slap it—to bring out the flavors and aroma, and then tear the leaves into smaller pieces before you muddle.  In a shaker, muddle the blackberries and basil until the berries are crushed and the basil is slightly bruised.  Add the bourbon, your sweetener of choice and ice.  Shake well.  Pour all of your shaker’s contents into a rocks glass and lace with club soda. Place atop a beautiful custom coaster and enjoy your party!
