This winter, pass a perfectly pink gin Gimlet at your holiday cocktail parties! For a cocktail that has historical roots on the open seas (where sailors drank gin to prevent scurvy! Yikes!), the Gimlet has gained a longstanding reputation as a refreshing and effortless cocktail. Add a bit of fresh pink grapefruit juice and, voilá, the Pink Gimlet, a new classic!
1 1/2 ounces High-Quality Gin
3/4 ounce Simple Syrup
1/2 Pink Grapefruit
Fresh Thyme and Lime Slice (for garnish)
In a cocktail shaker, start with the citrus base by squeezing the juice of one lime and 1/2 of a pink grapefruit over ample crushed ice. Add simple syrup and your favorite gin, then shake until combined. Pour and serve, garnishing with a slice of lime and a sprig of fresh thyme.
