You’ve heard of the stay-cation, so let us present to you: our guide to a flawless Stay-at-Home Valentine’s Day! With all the craziness of the world and temps dropping below freezing in some parts, many of us here at FYP are gearing up to stay inside for the Day of Love. You could call this a...Love Lockdown. Okay, musical references aside--we’ve got plenty of ideas for you and your Valentine to celebrate this special day from the comfort of the great indoors.
1. Set the Mood
Just because you’re staying in, that doesn’t mean it has to be a college dorm Netflix-and-Chill on the couch situation. You can easily transform your pad into a gorgeous Valentine’s Day wonderland with a few decorative touches! Balloons, confetti, and festive garlands are all easy options to spruce up the place for your stay-at-home Valentine’s Day celebration. Last but not least, you can’t forget the mood lighting--try setting up some candles or twinkle lights for a soft, romantic glow!
2. Prep the Drinks
Remember that bar cart you meticulously set up during quarantine, the one that’s now sitting in a corner collecting dust? Here’s the vision: get it stocked with festive favorites (anything pink and pretty is a must) and jazz it up with pinks and reds for your stay-at-home Valentine’s Day! Of course, the classic drink route for the occasion is a bottle of rosé, but we suggest getting creative with a fun and flirty cocktail or mocktail.
Gather your ingredients and have them at the ready on your beautiful bar cart with matching cocktail napkins, stir sticks, and cups. You can even get crazy and add some custom matches if you’re a cigar bar kind of couple. It’ll make a huge difference for your romantic evening--trust us, we know a thing or two about bar carts.
3. Get Your Snack On
Settled on a signature cocktail? Let’s move on to the other main event--the snacks! If food is the focus of your stay-at-home Valentine’s Day, make sure you’re well-stocked with festive accessories to serve up your tasty treats. Keep some pretty plates and dinner napkins at the ready, and don’t forget that cute shot glasses can also make great snack containers!
Just having a casual movie night date? Add a special touch with custom popcorn bags! Don’t forget to sneakily reach for the popcorn at the same time as your date during the movie ;)
4. Activity Ideas
Are you and/or your sweetheart more of a hands-on couple? You can always bake something sweet together, and there’s plenty of chill DIY activities to enjoy together for your stay-at-home Valentine’s Day. Why not try a new craft? This particular writer loves to force her Valentine’s dates to paint portraits of each other, for example ;) Pro tip: if you and your love create a particularly lovely masterpiece together, you can get it printed on some stationery or other gift to make a great present for your next anniversary! Two birds with one stone, as they say.
Not a single artistic bone in either of your bodies? No worries, we’ve got plenty of other fun DIY and craft ideas on our blog right over here.
